I wanted to thank the West Central Tribune's Editorial Board for their endorsement for my re-election to St. Paul as the state representative for District 17B (Most of Kandiyohi County.)
What an amazing two years it has been! With all the horrible things said from every angle, from both "political camps" in these very editorial pages, I need to just take a deep breath at times and know this will all be over soon.
The election Tuesday will close the books on campaign 2016. Then we need to start healing and be civil to everyone. I have known many people that have supported Ms. Mary Sawatzky publicly and I respect them for standing up. Win or lose, I know this is about a philosophy for folks more than it is personal attack against me. I have great respect for Mary and anyone that has the passion to run for an elected office.
Whoever represents us in St. Paul can not do anything alone. It takes a majority of 201 elected officials and a governor to make anything happen, including closing the gaps on state Highway 23, keeping our State Hospital open for kids on the MinnWest campus, providing the best testing facilities for future poultry diseases, and solving the newest crisis with Affordable Health Care. So the list of issues we need to address is endless.
So again, thank you to my family for supporting me, to my current and former employees who still encourage me everyday, and to the people who voted for me the first time. I hope I have earned your vote once again and I look forward to getting our community all unified moving forward.
