Our Fourth of July holiday Wednesday is the 236th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the founding document of the United States of America.

The Fourth is a day for the celebration of our national heritage, when the founding fathers risked their own life, limb and personal freedom for the greater good of America.

The Declaration of Independence was a statement of a young nation, which helped spark the American Revolution and the formation of our country.

This historic document reflects the basic principles and freedoms the founding fathers envisioned for this new country that became the United States.

Today America is a leader of freedom upon this earth. For 236 years, America has grown and evolved into the world leader it is today -- the largest economy, a military powerhouse, an innovation leader, a cultural trend setter and the best democracy in the world.
