I noticed in a recent issue news of the retirement of the Tribune's longtime sports writer, Rand Middleton.
I think I can speak for all of us in the Litchfield area interested in Dragon athletics when I express sincere appreciation for the fair and balanced coverage Rand gave through the years to Litchfield High School athletes.
During my working years as editor of the Independent Review I plodded the sidelines with Rand at many an LHS athletic contest and came to appreciated his dedication to high school sports.
Rand through the years did a superb job covering LHS athletics for the Tribune and he has been a credit to the craft of sports writing and to the profession of journalism.
