What is Dream Technical Academy? I have heard many incorrect statements and rumors about Dream Technical Academy, and I want to explain what the school has done for my high school-age son.
It has helped him become self-motivated, taught him that he can be successful at school and improved his daily life. Just like employees learn their job hands on, he is getting his high school education hands on - not by sitting at a school desk each day.
What kind of school is Dream Technical Academy? It is a project-based school where students learn through interest-based, individualized learning plans.
They may work independently, in small groups or even with community members, but they always have access to their adviser for help and input on their current projects. Their adviser is the go-to person, their “teacher,” the one that keeps them on track, answers their questions and pushes them to do more than they thought they possibly could - just like that favorite teacher in a traditional high school.
Yes, they must incorporate reading, writing and arithmetic in their projects. They just don’t do the 3 R’s while sitting in a structured classroom.
