I am writing this letter to give my support to Marv Calvin who is running for mayor of Willmar this fall. I would like to outline his qualifications for the position as I have experienced them.
I served with Marv on the Kandiyohi County Lakes Board for several years and have seen him in action so know he would make a good mayor for Willmar.
He is a very good listener, listening to all sides of an issue without any preconceived conclusion. He searches for the real facts and is able to ask the right question about the missing pieces in the discussions. After that he is very methodical and logical in his analysis and decision. He doesn’t try to persuade people to his decisions, but makes sure they have all the facts. Then as a team they make the decision that is best for everyone. Through this process he is able to look at the big picture, and make sure any decision made is best for the community; i.e., he doesn’t have a hidden agenda.
Marv is also a born leader. He has great compassion for the community he represents and will do everything in his power to move the community in the right direction that benefits everyone. He will take the reins and lead the group and make sure everyone is involved and make sure they stay on the path set by the group. However, when necessary he will make a decision and carry it out when it best meets the needs of the community.
Because of his leadership, listening ability, and passion for the community he will make a great mayor for Willmar and I hope others have the fortunate opportunity to work with Marv as I have.
