Letter: I want to hear from residents

Over the next 14 months I expect to see more letters to the editor talking about my record, such as the one that appeared recently saying a vote I took somehow helped another region in the state more than my home county of Kandiyohi.

Over the next 14 months I expect to see more letters to the editor talking about my record, such as the one that appeared recently saying a vote I took somehow helped another region in the state more than my home county of Kandiyohi.
My goodness, our area won in many areas and I have done my best to share those in my email updates and conversations with residents what those have been: mental health, chemical dependency, a big boost to education funding, propane relief, nursing home funding, and major support for our local economy with avian flu support and even special bonding approval for rail safety and the Willmar Poultry Lab.
Many have said Kandiyohi County was a big winner this year and it’s my hope as I continue my work that there will only be more to come.
I welcome those that write letters to give me the opportunity to explain the full content of why I would vote the way I did. Send me an email, give me a call, or stop me if you see me in town. I’m always happy to talk.
There are so many parts of large bills that are passed and defeated that need a better understanding.
We are truly one Minnesota .
Just because one area gets help in a certain bill doesn’t mean our area won’t be helped by another part of the same bill or one of the many other bills that were passed.
I am proud of my record, and yes, we have much work yet to do. I will be working hard on broadband, transportation, and tax bill, bonding, and other issues in 2016.
I am easy to reach with my email at rep.dave.baker@house.mn .
It’s an honor to serve this great county and I know not everyone will agree with my votes.
I go to work each day fighting in every way I can for our area.
I hope people will recognize that I’m willing to work across the aisle with all members of the House to ensure folks in our community are heard.

Rep. Dave Baker
District 17B
Willmar
