For me, the opinion page is usually the most interesting part of the paper so, Tuesday morning, your piece about letters to the editor may have been the first thing I read. These letters are one of the reasons I subscribe. News of world events I can find other places, but news of things local: events, sports, obituaries, if they are not in the West Central Tribune, I probably won’t know of them.
Certainly without your letters to the editor I wouldn’t know what other folks around here are thinking about those things and I couldn’t widely share my thoughts. However; on your opinion page, if I care enough to go to the trouble of writing, I know they will be printed.
At least they will if I follow the rules. Of course simmering my diatribes down to 350 words is hard, but a good example was set by the late Walt Somerville whose one-sentence letters were as interesting as the man himself.
It is good to know that you publish the vast majority of submitted letters and I agree that this is a valuable service for our part of the state. So, thank you.
