Troubling developments regarding recent sex offender release lawsuits make this reader wonder if indeed sane, law-abiding people and elected politicians are being bullied by criminals and perpetrators of awful abuses on the flimsy grounds that psychopaths and very dangerous people merely need a little time and therapy before they are fit to be back in the community.

I suggest this: “You’re guilty and insane.” Done. Then major long-term removal from the outside world would be the punishment.

But apparently that would hurt their feelings. Instead, “You are innocent by reason of insanity” or some such touchy-feely remedy seems to be the latest fad in the politically correct world we now live in; but repeat offenders obviously don’t listen to their counselors.

What in the world are their defenders thinking?

My heart goes out to those who have been innocent victims of such deeds.

I am less sympathetic to people who are dangerous and violent.
