It was an honor to have Dave Baker follow me onto the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce board of directors after my term expired. I was very surprised when he announced he was declining that position but pleased that he was running for the Minnesota House of Representatives because I knew Dave would be a strong advocate for Kandiyohi County.
Dave was a leader in getting relief passed for avian flu, he helped boost the amount of funding included in the final budget for broadband in rural Minnesota, and he has been an outspoken advocate who helped pass meaningful legislation to improve mental health coverage.
In recognition of his work, the Cooperative Network just awarded Dave Baker its legislator of the year award.
As a former chair of the Willmar Community-Owned Grocery, I think they made a great choice! Dave has had an incredible track record already with another year still to go - I’m excited to see what he can get done for our area next year.
