Dave and Marsha Little: Outraged at Fischbach vote on Electoral College

Letter writers write about their outrage over U.S. Rep. Michelle Fischbach's vote to reject the Electoral College results.

Reader Opinion letter

We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and the damage done to our democracy by domestic terrorists who took over our nation’s Capitol Jan. 6. They were convinced by the deadly lies of President Donald Trump and his supporters on Fox News and in social media that they could change the Electoral College vote that gave Joe Biden the victory. They were wrong, of course. We hope all these thugs are prosecuted for their crimes to the fullest extent of the law.

Also, we are outraged by U.S. Rep. Michelle Fischbach’s vote along with other congressional Republicans to reject the Electoral College results of two major states, based on the big lie that the presidential election was fraudulent.

Elections officials — Republicans and Democrats — in all 50 states have said there was no fraud. Recounts found no fraud, and the courts threw out all legal challenges because there was no fraud, all of which affirmed Biden was elected president in a fair, free, open, honest and transparent election. Biden won and Trump lost.

Going forward, Republicans must stop repeating these outrageous election lies and other conspiracy theories, and instead join Democrats in providing resources to fightCOVID-19 and end unemployment, hunger and homelessness. Republicans must also work with Democrats to address many other serious issues and problems facing our country.
