I can answer the question that Carmen Fernholz asked in his Dec. 8 letter to the editor regarding why 7th District Rep. Michelle Fischbach , R- Paynesville , did not support the recently passed bipartisan Infrastructure bill in Congress.

In a recent email to me, she said such spending is the purview of the states and not Congres s.

It’s a good thing President Dwight D. Eisenhower did not have that thinking when he proposed the interstate freeway system. Good highways, roads and streets are as vital today as decades ago.

So, what is the condition of the roads, bridges and other infrastructure in Minnesota ?

Not very good, thanks to Republicans who for many years have blocked gas tax increases and other revenue increases needed to improve and update our infrastructure.

Today, Republicans don’t even care about working for their constituents.

Fischbach and other Republicans in Congress and those in state legislatures in Minnesota and across the country are working for only one person: also known as the twice-impeached, twice-disgraced, dictator-in-waiting, ex-White House occupant, the Mar-a-Lago Madman.
