Minnesota has the right mix, according the 2015 study by WalletHub. Reinforced by a Gallup-Healthways poll, the finance website research ranks the state No. 2 on the happiness scale. Elsewhere in the Upper Midwest, North Dakota wasnât far behind at No. 5 and Iowa was No. 8. South Dakota came in at No. 11 while Wisconsin ranked No. 18.
The studyâs organizers say that while money can contribute to someoneâs happiness - up to $75,000 a year - health, job satisfaction, environment and a good outlook help make for the whole package.
The No. 1 spot went to Utah, with top ratings for âworking environmentâ (Minnesota 7) and âcommunity, environment, recreational activitiesâ (Minnesota 3). Minnesota was 1 in âemotional and physical well-beingâ (Utah 4).
