The Kandiyohi County Board interviewed the three finalists Tuesday for the county administrator position. In a unanimous vote they will offer the position to Kelsey Baker, the current county administrator of Swift County. Current Kandiyohi County administrator Larry Kleindl is set to retire in February.
A 32-year-old Willmar man and 33-year-old Willmar woman were arrested Monday after CEE-VI Drug and Gang Task Force agents executed a narcotics search warrant at house in Willmar. According to the release, both face pending first-degree drug charges.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is planning on investing more than $500 million into District 8, which includes Kandiyohi County and 11 other southwest Minnesota counties, over the next 10 years. This will include major projects on state Highway 23, state Highway 40 and U.S. Highway 71 in Kandiyohi County.
Maintenance is set to begin Monday morning on the railroad crossing south of Regal on Kandiyohi County Road 2. Canadian Pacific Railroad crews will close the crossing at 7 a.m. Monday. It is scheduled to reopen on Friday.
An 86-year-old Lake Lillian man and a 35-year-old man from Faribault, neither wearing a seat belt, died in a crash Saturday between Lake Lillian and Cosmos. The Faribault man was driving a vehicle reported stolen minutes earlier. An 83-year-old woman was flown to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with life-threatening injuries.
