Warm temperatures bring a splash of color back
More candidates are filing for office in Kandiyohi County and Willmar.
COVID-19 cases have continued to increase across the state, and more people are hospitalized, though the number of deaths has not increased significantly, according to Minnesota Department of Health udpates. The numbers are likely higher than the state is reporting, as home tests are not reported to the state.
There is no official stance from the University of Minnesota on adopting a "No Mow May" approach to your lawn, in order to provide food for early pollinators. Both Wisconsin and Iowa Extensions recommend adopting a “Mow Less in May” routine.

The filing period for candidates running for elected office opened on Tuesday. There are already a handful of candidates that have filed for open offices in Kandiyohi County and Willmar, as well as Minnesota House District 16B.

The Kandiyohi County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution declaring a disaster in the county after the harsh weather last week. The resolution is the first step in the process to obtain possible state funding to help pay for damage to public infrastructure and facilities caused by the weather. There is also the chance of federal funding if the state as a whole declares a disaster.

The public is invited to line Main Street in Blomkest from approximately 7 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in honor of Erickson's long service to the Blomkest Fire Department, the city of Blomkest and Kandiyohi County.
Kandiyohi County Sheriff Eric Holien on Tuesday announced additional lakes under no-wake restrictions within 500 feet of shore. The first restrictions were issued Monday.
