Travel advisories are now lifted in Kandiyohi and Meeker counties as of 8:30 a.m. Thursday. Highway 14 and all state highways south of Highway 14 in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Pipestone, and Redwood counties remain closed.
With a winter storm underway, and blizzard conditions forecast for Thursday, the message from the Minnesota Department of Transportation is "stay home." District 8 Superintendent Lonnie Hoffman says weather conditions may be life-threatening for travelers who become stranded on the side of the road or in a ditch.
West central and southwest Minnesota face the possibility of 2-4 inches of snow; portions of South Dakota are under an ice storm warning, a winter storm warning and a blizzard warning.
