COVID-19 cases have continued to increase across the state, and more people are hospitalized, though the number of deaths has not increased significantly, according to Minnesota Department of Health udpates. The numbers are likely higher than the state is reporting, as home tests are not reported to the state.
The state reported nearly 3,000 new COVID-19 cases Friday, and more than 14,000 new cases in the past week. Deaths due to COVID-19 also increased slightly, as did the number of people in hospitals.
West central Minnesota was pounded by rain during intense thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday, leading to flooded streets, basements, fields and parks.

COVID-19 cases in west central Minnesota continue to inch back up, with 342 cases reported during the past week, up from 200 a week ago. One death was recorded.
The annual report by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office shows an increase in Renville County deaths to homicides and suicides, part of a trend the Ramsey, Minnesota-based office is seeing in other counties it serves.
