MORRIS - Connor Koebernick scored on a 10-yard run and then completed the two-point conversion on another run in overtime to help carry Morris/Chokio-Alberta past Benson 47-39 in a Mid State District game on Friday at Big Cat Stadium.
The Tigers led 21-7 at halftime before the visiting Braves, coming off a 35-0 win over Yellow Medicine East, scored 20 points in the third quarter to make it a game. The Braves owned a 39-27 lead in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers roared back and scored twice in the final moments to force overtime.
Jacob Zosel ran for a game-high 191 yards and had two touchdowns for the Tigers to help offset Layton Connelly throwing for 313 yards and four touchdowns for Benson.
Koebernick also scored twice and Trent Marty had a pair of one-yard scoring runs for Morris/Chokio-Alberta, which improved to 3-0.
Adam Lindahl collected nine passes to gain 176 yards and Josh Manzke had 85 receiving yards on four catches for Benson. Both had two TD catches, with Lindahl’s longest covering 68 yards and Manzke’s longest going for 50 yards that capped the Benson scoring.

Next Friday Benson hosts BOLD (1-2) and the Tigers are at Minnewaska (2-1).
