NEW LONDON — The New London-Spicer gymnastics team took home a 139.550-132.475 win over Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg on Tuesday night.
But, Braves’ junior Libby McGeary and Wildcats’ sophomore Ciera Anderson were the top two scorers.
McGeary placed first in the all-around with a score of 35.500, just edging out Anderson’s 35.450.
Both McGeary and Anderson placed in the top two in three of the four events. McGeary was the only Brave to place within the top three against NLS
“We had an OK night,” NLS coach Cindy Jacobson said. “The judging has been a little inconsistent the last couple of meets, which can be confusing for the gymnasts.”

Anderson placed first on the vault with a 9.500; McGeary placed second (9.200).
McGeary answered by placing first on the bars (8.950) with Anderson (8.500) placing second.
Neither Anderson nor McGeary placed within the top three on the beam as Wildcats’ Taylor Knudsen took first (9.100).
Anderson placed fifth (8.500), McGeary, the reigning Class AA beam state champion, placed seventh (8.100).
McGeary placed first in floor (9.250) and Anderson placed second (8.950).
“We just need to regroup over Christmas break and work on some execution and add some new tricks,” Jacobson said.
