MARSHALL - Central Minnesota Christian School took command early and never relented, taking home sub-section championship hardware for a second-straight year with an 80-52 victory over Dawson-Boyd on Friday at Southwest Minnesota State University.

CMCS claimed the Section 3A-North title by scoring 44 first-half points and taking a 16-point lead into its halftime locker room.

The Bluejays, now 25-3, take on Murray County Central (26-3) for the 3A championship at 8 p.m. Thursday at SMSU. CMCS won the section a year ago and finished third at the Class A state tournament.

MCC advanced with an 84-75 overtime win over Southwest Minnesota Christian in Friday’s first game at SMSU.

Taylor Slagter, a key player on the 2015 team, took on that role again on Friday, finishing with 21 points and 14 rebounds.

Matthew Van Eps scored 19 points and Ethan Brouwer had 16 points, six boards and three assists.

Alex Swenson led the Blackjacks (16-9) with 13 points, Jess Hansen closed his prep career with 11 and Eli Weber had nine.
