Sartell/Sauk Rapids blanks Willmar

SAUK RAPIDS — Sartell/Sauk Rapids scored early and often on Friday night as they downed Willmar's girls hockey team 7-0.

The Sabers got started just three minutes into the game with a goal from Brooke Walters. Walters scored in each period to earn a hat trick.

Bre Hess scored the second goal and Bria Ferns scored the third and seventh goal of the night as well.

Willmar's Bryton Carlson stopped 37 of the the 30 shots she faced.

The Cardinals will have a rematch against Northern Lakes on Tuesday in Breezy Point.

Prep Wrestling

The BBE wrestling team crowned five champions and the Jaguars claimed first place at the Jaguar Invitational on Friday.

BBE scored 181.5 points to outdistance Quad County (140) and Holdingford 112.

Men's Basketball

Ridgewater 94, Hibbing 72

Ridgewater's men put on a scoring bonanza against Hibbing on Friday night to bounce back for their seventh win of the season.

Akeem Oglesby led the way by scoring 23 points, including five shots from the behind-the-arc. Matt Ringkob also got involved with 17 points. He finished just two rebounds shy of a double-double as well.

They play Rainy River at 3 p.m. today in International Falls.

Hibbing 57, Ridgewater 43

The Ridgewater women's basketball team trailed by just three at halftime but Hibbing scored 32 in the second and defeated the Warriors in an MCAC game Friday in Hibbing.

Ridgewater's Kaitlyn Kienholz led the team with 12 points and Alexis Schmitz and Abby Oberg both finished with six.

The Warriors play on the road again today, taking on Rainy River at 1 p.m. in International Falls.
