MINNEAPOLIS — The Shadows did it again.
Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd repeated as state Class A jazz division champion for the second year in a row Friday night at Target Center.
The Shadows edged Holy Family Catholic and Frazee to capture the state title.
LQPV/D-B had 11 dancers on the floor and used a moody, artistic performance to impress the judges.
The Yellow Medicine East Silhouettes finished fifth, advancing to Friday’s finals. BOLD took 10th and Minnewaska was 12th in jazz.
Class A high kick competition takes place at 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Target Center. LQPV/D-B is the defending state champion. YME, BOLD and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City are all set to compete.
It’s the 14th time in 18 years that LQPV/D-B has qualified for state in both disciplines.
