ATWATER— The Atwater Chuckers beat the Norway Lake-Sunburg Lakers 10-2 Friday night in a County Line League amateur baseball game.

After two scoreless innings, the Chuckers trailed 2-0. However, Atwater answered with three runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead.

The Kingery duo helped the Chuckers take the win. Josh Kingery went 3 of 3 with a home run, three runs, four RBI and two walks. David Kingery took the win on the mound with five innings pitched, notching five strikeouts and no walks.

Connor Barker went 2-for-4 with a homer for the Chuckers.

“On a hot day like this you never know what to expect out of everyone,” Chuckers manager Josh Cunningham said. “We came out and battled. After giving up two runs they came right back, the boys hit the ball and played hard.”

Lakers manager James Cortez discussed what he saw in the team’s defeat.

“It was a closer game than it was. We just had too many errors. We just couldn’t get out of innings when we needed to.”

The Chuckers play their next game against the Starbuck Stars at 12:30 p.m. June 13 in Starbuck.

The Lakers take on the Paynesville Pirates at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Paynesville.
