ROCHESTER — Willmar Stingers third baseman Reid Homan had a game he’ll likely remember a long time.
The junior from the University of North Alabama went 6-for-6 in Willmar’s 6-3 Northwoods League victory over the Rochester Honkers. The game was played before 986 fans at Mayo Field.
Included in Homan’s six hits were two runs, a double, a home run and three RBI. For the season, Homan is batting .522 (12 of 23) with five runs, two doubles, a homer and seven RBI. He’s walked once and struck out once. He has a .542 on-base percentage, a .739 slugging percentage and a 1.281 OPS.
Willmar (4-1) had 16 hits overalls against Rochester (2-3). Also having a good night was second baseman Tyler Small. Playing in his first game for the Singers, the junior from Dallas Baptist University went 3-for-5 with four runs, two RBI, a walk and a stolen base.
Willmar used five pitchers and held the Honkers to five hits.
Rochester scored three runs in the first inning and held that lead until the fourth, when the Stingers scored four times. Willmar also scored in the next five innings.
The teams conclude their two-game series at 6:05 p.m. Saturday at Mayo Field.
