ACGC sinks KMS to stay undefeated

KERKHOVEN -- Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City flexed its heavier weight muscles to win a non-conference dual of undefeated teams over Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 46-17 Tuesday.

KERKHOVEN -- Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City flexed its heavier weight muscles to win a non-conference dual of undefeated teams over Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 46-17 Tuesday.

The Fighting Saints held a 14-9 lead following a pin by Jordan Engler at 103 pounds, a major decision by Zach Carlson at 119 and Jessie Engler's major decision at 130, but the Falcons won the next four matches to take the lead, which they did not relinquish.

Matthew Lee at 135 pounds, Larry Bomstad at 140, Matt Meyer at 145 and Maverick Whitcomb at 152 won to build ACGC's lead to 26-14. Whitcomb won with a pin.

Trevor Mahlum's 9-5 decision at 160 was KMS' only victory in the last nine matches.

Ryan Larson won by technical fall at 171 pounds, then James Nelson won a 1-0 decision at 189. Dylan Nelson at 215 and Lucas Damm at heavyweight closed out the victory with successive pins.
