BROOTEN -- Madi Sachs, a Minnewaska Area freshman, easily won the girls division of the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Invitational on Thursday at the Prairie View Golf Course.
Sachs, who ran the 4,000 meters in 15:19 on an 80-degree afternoon, is 3-for-3 in races this fall. Her former Minnewaska teammate Maren Greenwalt of Sauk Centre was second in 15:47. Gabi Swoboda of Redwood Valley was next, followed by Spencer Erickson of New London-Spicer.
Albany won both the boys and girls titles. Paynesville was second in the girls race.
The Huskies boys team also had the medalist in Landon Bauer, who led the entire race to finish in 17:19.
Ben Bjertness of New London-Spicer was nine seconds back in second place.

New London-Spicer finished one point in back of runner-up Sauk Centre for third place in the boys race.
