Amateur Baseball: Moorhead Brewers shut out Raymond

Rockets held to two hits in exhibition loss

RAYMOND — Moorhead emerged with a 5-0 shutout road victory over the Raymond Rockets at Lilleberg Field.

The Brewers’ pitchers combined to give up two hits and five walks. Cole Christensen earned the win for Moorhead at the mound, striking out seven in seven innings. He walked four of the five batters.

The Brewers scored a run in the fifth and sixth before scoring two in the seventh and one in the top of the ninth.

Moorhead batters Denver Blinn and Mike Peschel hit home runs in the matchup. Blinn finished 1-for-5 while Peschel went 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.

For Raymond, Alex Lotthammer was dealt the loss but struck out five batters. He gave up two hits, allowed one run and walked two batters. Asaiah Smith and Tyler Steen accounted for both of the team’s hits.


The Rockets host the Willmar Rails at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Raymond.

Litchfield scored at least two runs in each of the first four innings to run away with a North Star League win over the Waverly Stingers at Optimist Park.

Andrew Loch hit 3-for-4 with two RBI a walk and a stolen base for the Blues. Joey Hyde takes the win with six strikeouts in seven innings pitched.

Kirby Moynagh scored Waverly’s lone run in the top of the third.

Litchfield is on the road Sunday for a 1 p.m. game against the Delano Athletics.
