SPICER -- New London-Spicer pitchers Kevin Soine and Nathaniel Swoyer combined to six-hit Paynesville as the Twins downed the Pirates 4-1 on Sunday in the County Line League championship game at Green Lake Diamond.
Soine worked the first six innings, allowing the Pirates' lone run on three hits while striking out five. Swoyer earned a save, allowing three hits and striking out three over the final three innings.
The Twins, now 14-7 overall, open the Region 15C tournament at 4 p.m. Saturday in Richmond. New London-Spicer drafted Atwater's Justin Schroeder for the playoffs.
Paynesville will also play Saturday in Richmond at 1:30 p.m. in its first-round game of the region tourney.
On Sunday, NLS' Tyler Horning doubled, drove in a run and scored a run, and Jake Rambow, Mike Danielson and Jay Magnuson had the Twins' other hits.

Paynesville's Trent Hanson was 3-for-3 and Jamie Paul, Jordan Haas and Aaron Savelkoul had the Pirates' other hits.
Keagan Meagher took the loss for Paynesville.
