RAYMOND - Raymond unloaded an onslaught of extra base hits on the way to a seven-inning, 11-1 win against Granite Falls Wednesday night.
The Rockets asserted their dominance early with two runs in the opening frame and five more in the second against Kilowatt starter Derrick Grund. The Rockets launched four doubles in the ballgame including a pair that hit the wall in the air.
John Sawatzky appreciated the early run support but he didn't need much help. He allowed two hits and struck out five across five innings of work to earn the win. The lone Kilowatt run came in the fourth inning when Sawatzky ran into control problems and the defense bobbled a double play opportunity. Herman Solomon and Zach Nelson each followed up Sawatzky's effort with scoreless innings.
Nine batters finished the game with hits for the Rockets including Kyle Knott, Noah Vreeman and Calvin Kosminskas who each tallied two hits each. Tyler Steen also racked up three RBIs.
Raymond's next game is the Town Ball Classic on Saturday at Target Field. The Rockets will take on Sobieski at 10 a.m.
