ATWATER - Justin Schroeder’s two-run double and JaColby Anderson’s two-run single highlighted a five-run fifth inning for Atwater as the top-seeded Chuckers used the outburst to beat No. 2 New London-Spicer 5-1 on Sunday in the winner’s bracket final of the County Line League playoffs.
The win also secured Atwater a spot in the Region 15C playoffs that is Aug. 7-16 in Roscoe and Paynesville.
The other County Line League participant in the region playoffs will be determined next Sunday as the Twins will play the Norway Lake-Sunburg/Regal winner at noon in Atwater. The Chuckers will play the noon winner at 3 p.m. for the league title.
Atwater batted nine in the fifth against NLS and got a leadoff hit from Michael Malvin. Jordan Tanner then drew a walk and after a groundout, Josh Cunningham drew another walk and Brian Kingery followed with a single to knock in Malvin with the game’s first run.
Schroeder then doubled to left-center to drive in Tanner and Cunningham, and two batters later Anderson singled down the third-base line to bring in Kingery and Schroeder and give Atwater starter Vance Martin a 5-0 lead and eventually the win.

Olson threw 2.1 scoreless innings to preserve the win.
Austin Rambow singled twice and Kevin Soine doubled for NLS. Soine also worked all eight innings on the mound, scattering eight strikeouts, six hits and four walks.
