BIRD ISLAND - Seven different players collect a hit for Bird Island and Bullfrogs starter Jake Marcus threw seven solid innings to help the home team double up the Hutchinson Huskies 4-2 in a non-league game Friday.
Marcus earned the win after Tyler Hebrink drove in Dylan Gass and Shawn Dollerschell with a bloop hit in the seventh inning. Gass and Dollerschell both drew a walk in the frame to reach base.
Marcus held the Huskies to six hits and two runs in his performance on the mound. Brad Gass then threw a scoreless eighth and ninth, striking out three along the way, to earn a save.
Logan Swan tripled in Elliot Serbus in the second to give Bird Island a quick 1-0 lead. Swan then singled in the fourth to become the only Bullfrog to get two hits on the night.
Bird Island hosts Dassel on Saturday and is at Willmar on Sunday for a Cornbelt League game.

Regal needed only four hits to produce a half-dozen runs in a road win.

Chris Beier and winning pitcher Nathan Beier knocked in two runs each and Shane Radermacher and Austen Hadley both scored twice for the Eagles.
Nathan Beier gave up four singles and a double over nine innings to earn the complete-game win. He issued just one walk while striking out six.
Matt Tanner drove in Ryan Walsh in the ninth for the Chuckers’ lone run.
Atwater is off until Wednesday when it hosts Eden Valley in a non-league game.
