GLENWOOD - Starbuck enjoyed a sizeable lead for the first half of its County Line League game with Atwater Sunday, but the visiting Chuckers rallied to collect a 9-8 win.
Thanks to an 11 at bat frame in the second, Starbuck (2-7 in CLL) plated six runs, highlighted by Jake Amundson’s two-run double, Tyler Toop’s two-run single and Mike Nielson’s RBI single. The Stars would score again in the third and fourth, but Atwater scored eight runs over a four-inning span to take control.
Matt Tanner capped the comeback with a single in the eighth that knocked in Zach Cunningham and Brian Kingery. The first lead for Chuckers since a 1-0 advantage in the first allowed Vance Martin to get the complete-game win, despite allowing 13 hits and eight earned runs.
Cunningham and Toop both had three hits.
