MARSHALL - Bird Island scored three runs in the eighth inning and snuffed out a Marshall rally as the Bullfrogs edged the A’s 7-5 on Friday.
Bird Island improved to 18-8 and the Bullfrogs will resume a game against Granite Falls at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Richter Field. The game will be resumed in the second inning.
On Friday, Bird Island’s Shawn Dollerschell blasted a three-run home run in the third inning, and the Bullfrogs added a run in the fourth on when Elliot Serbus doubled and came around on Trevor Nissen’s RBI single.
In the eighth, Dollerschell and Tyler Hebrink hit back-to-back singles. Nissen doubled in another run and Hebrink scored on Riley Kramer’s single.
Dylan Gass pitched two scoreless innings to get the save.

Dollerschell had three hits and Nissen was 2-for-4. Ben Steffel also drove in a run.

Kaleb Kalkbrenner held visiting Clear Lake to five singles and a double while striking out seven to earn a complete-game win for the Blues on Friday at Optimist Park.
A four-run first inning was all Kalkbrenner needed and Litchfield cranked out 16 hits in the contest. Jacob Johnson and Stephen Pennertz both had three hits, while Carson Deal, Derek Koll and Eric Hulterstrum had two hits apiece.
Deal drove in three runs, while Johnson, Hulterstrum and Matt Spreiter had one RBI apiece.
Litchfield is at Eden Valley on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. for a non-league game.
