SUNBURG --- Aaron Zimmer singled in the go-ahead run and Norway Lake-Sunburg edged New London-Spicer 4-3 on Sunday.

With the game tied at two in the sixth, Grant Johnson led off with a single for the Lakers. James Cortez bunted, and both runners were safe when the Twins tried to throw out Johnson at second.

Johnson stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly from Chris Searcy, and Cortez scored the eventual game-winning run on Zimmer's single.

Lakers' starter Chris Braaten pitched a complete game, striking out six. He allowed 13 hits, but held the Twins to just three runs.


Johnson was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Cortez also had two hits. Searcy was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

The Bird Island Bullfrogs won the second installment of back-to-back games almost two days apart by crushing the Raymond Rockets 10-3 on Sunday afternoon at Lions Memorial Park.

The Frogs, who trailed 3-0 early, cranked out 15 hits.

The Rockets got the best of Bird Island on Friday evening at Lilleberg Field 6-1.

Raymond ends Cornbelt League's regular season on top with a 9-2 record. Bird Island goes 6-5 and is 11-9 overall.

Jesse Bjur threw all 9 innings for the Frogs. He gave up 7 hits and walk 7. Zach Nelson took the loss.

Atwater scored three runs in the first inning and pitchers Justin Schroeder and Jordan Tanner made the lead stand in a County Line League game Sunday in Starbuck.

Jacolby Anderson and Brian Kingery both had two hits and drove in two runs, and Matt Lilleberg and Vance Martin both drove in a pair of runs. Schroeder and Jeff Peterson both had two hits and scored twice.

Schroeder overcame seven walks to limit Starbuck to two runs on two hits over seven innings while striking out seven. After Starbuck scored twice in the seventh, Jordan Tanner allowed just a hit over the final two innings.

The Willmar Rails rallied in the bottom of the ninth but had too large of deficit to overcome and lost 6-3 to Granite Falls in a Cornbelt League game on Sunday.

Willmar's Matt Stock had two hits and scored twice, Austin Adamson drove in a pair of runs and Travis Koenen doubled and drove in a run.

Willmar plays next at Marshall on Tuesday.
