Amateur baseball roundup: Raymond gets a win over Starbuck

Rockets do most of their scoring early in an 8-3 win over the Stars at Marthaler Park. Also, the Litchfield Blues hang on to beat the Buffalo Bulldogs in a North Star League game.

GLENWOOD — The Raymond Rockets beat the Starbuck Stars 8-3 in an amateur baseball game Wednesday night at Marthaler Park.

Starbuck had nine hits to Raymond’s eight.

Raymond got its bats going early, scoring six runs in the first five innings.

Brady Kienitz led the way for the Rockets. He went 3-for-5 with one RBI, scoring three runs.

The Stars’ Matt Gruber went 3-for-5, including a solo home run.

Starbuck cut the gap to 6-3 in the sixth inning before Raymond cemented its victory by adding two more runs in the ninth.

Isaac Call and Zach Nelson each pitched scoreless innings in relief for Raymond.

Avery Liestman cruised through six innings on the mound to help the Litchfield Blues beat the Buffalo Bulldogs in a North Star League game at Buffalo.

Liestman struck out 10, walked one and scattered six hits and one earned run. He also was 3-for-5 with a run at the plate. Andrew Loch, Eric Hulterstrum, Andrew Loch and Ben Alsleben all had two hits for the Blues.

Justin Johnson slugged a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth for the Bulldogs.
