MONTEVIDEO - Calvin Kosminskas slugged two home runs and was one of seven Rockets that recorded two-or-more hits Friday to back Tyler Knott’s 15-strikeout performance as Raymond drubbed Montevideo 19-4 in a non-league game.

Montevideo scored twice in the first to take a quick 2-0 lead, but that would be the Spartans’ only lead as the Rockets exploded for five runs in the third, three in the fourth, four in the seventh and seven in a game-ending eighth. In all, Raymond pounded out 17 hits - six in the eighth - against six pitchers.

Kosminskas and John Sawatzky had three hits each with Kosminskas belting a three-run shot in the fourth and a two-run homer in the seventh. Mike Jeseritz, Justin Koenen, Tyler Steen, Geoff Nelson and Herman Solomon added two hits apiece.

Knott surrendered six hits and three runs in six innings of work to earn the win. Sawatzky hurled the seventh and eighth and notched five more strikeouts for the Rockets.

Joe Bednar had three of Montevideo’s eight hits.
