Amateur Golf: Madsen captures Willmar Early Bird

Winner finishes at 2-under-par to take the title Sunday at Eagle Creek.

WILLMAR— Brady Madsen emerged as the champion of the Willmar Early Bird Amateur Tournament on Sunday at Eagle Creek Golf Course.

After shooting a first-round 72 on Saturday, Madsen carded a 34 over nine holes to finish at a 2-under-par 106.

That enabled him to beat Shane Barnes by three strokes. Barnes shot rounds of 74 and 35 to finish at a 1-over-par 109.

Jonathan Hanner and Matt Gorans each shot 112s to tie for third at 4-over-par.
