Amateur golf: Peterson captures 93rd Lakeland Championship title at Eagle Creek Golf Club

Golfer finishes at 13-under-par to win Championship Flight by 8 strokes.

WILLMAR — Trent Peterson earned the title in the Championship Flight of the 93rd Lakeland Championship on Sunday at Eagle Creek Golf Club.

Peterson shot rounds of 67 and 32 over 27 holes on Saturday, then had rounds of 70 and 34 on Sunday to finish with a 203. That was eight strokes ahead of Brady Madsen, Andy Jacobson and Danny Anderson, who all tied for second place.

Peterson’s total to par gross was at 13-under-par for 54 holes.

Madsen, Jacbson and Anderson all finished at 5-under-par in the two-day event.

The best 18-hole round Sunday belonged to Anderson, who shot a 69. Peterson had a 70 and Matt Gorans, who tied for fifth place, had a 71.


Madsen had a 33 on the final nine holes played Sunday, one of three golfers under par. Peterson and Jacobson each shot 34s.

In the First Flight, Eric Means and Pete Hannig tied with 15-over-par 195s over 45 holes. Means shot rounds of 80, 39 and 76. Hannig had 74, 42 and 79.

In the Senior Division, John Spreiter captured first place with rounds of 72 and 75 to finish at 147, 10 strokes better than Roque Arcilla. Spreiter finished at 3-over-par.
