Amateur golf roundup: Minnewaska duo takes fourth at MGA Mixed Amateur Team Championship
Amateur golf report for Thursday, June 30, 2022, in west central Minnesota. Jed Baranczyk and Leah Skaar shoot 6-under-par to finish three strokes off the winners of the two-day event in Northfield.
NORTHFIELD — Jed Baranczyk and Leah Skaar of the Minnewaska Golf Club wound up fourth at the Minnesota Golf Association’s Mixed Amateur Team Championship on Thursday.
Baranczyk and Skar had a two-day total of 6-under-par 138. That was three strokes behind Lily Vincelli and Tony Vincelli of YOC Minnesota and Brackett’s Crossing Country Club. The Vincellis shot a 9-under 135 with rounds of 66 and 69.
Baranczyk and Skaar had rounds of 67 and 71. The duo was tied for second after the first day.
Hogan Ordal and Jovie Ordal of Willinger’s Golf Club and Nate Stevens and Sophia Yoemans of Northfield Golf Club and Mississippi National Golf Links tied for second with 7-under-par 137s.
Ace at Olivia
Dave Altmann shot a hole-in-one at the 148-yard hole No. 5 on June 21 at Olivia Golf Club. Altmann used an 8-iron from the blue tee. It was Altmann’s first hole-in-one in 45 years of playing golf. Witnesses were: Steve Altmann, Paul Rengel, Tim Ebbers and Brian Boen.
