MORRIS -- BOLD roughed up the two aces from the prep Class A state runner-up team in a 13-0 victory at the Morris Prairie Pioneer Days Legion Tournament on Friday in Morris.
BOLD lit into Brandon Bornhorst, the ace of Lac qui Parle Valley's state tournament team, for eight runs in the first inning. Ben Morken, another of LQPV's top arms, for five more runs in the third inning.
Eight of BOLD's nine hitters had at least one hit, led by Trent Athmann, who was 2-for-3 and drove in three runs. Tyler Rock had a double among his two hits and he drove in two runs.
Jake Marcus went the distance, allowing just two hits while striking out six.
BOLD is 14-4 overall and plays two games today, facing Spring Lake Park at 11 a.m. and Morris at 4 p.m.

Down a run and down to its last out, Montevideo's Legion team put together four straight singles and scored twice to down Minneota.
Jordan Thompson singled and Josh Henderson entered as a pinch runner. Ricky Schmitz singled, and Kyle TeBeest also singled to drive in Henderson with the tying run. Joe Bednar's single then scored Schmitz with the winning run.
Thompson worked all eight innings, scattering nine hits and striking out six for the win.

American Legion baseball playoffs begin next week in two area Division II regions.
Region 3 opens with No. 4-seed Tri-Town playing at No. 5 Prinsburg at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
The winner plays No. 1-seed BOLD at Bird Island at 8 p.m. Thursday while No. 3 Hector plays at No, 2 Fairfax at 7 p.m. Thursday.
In Region 4, No. 5-seed Minneota plays at No. 4 Sacred Heart/MACCRAY on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart.
No. 3 Madison plays at No. 2 Granite Falls on Thursday at 7 p.m.
No. 1 Montevideo has a first-round bye and plays the winner of the Minneota and SH/MACCRAY game at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Marshall dropped Raymond to 9-3 in the Cornbelt League after scoring four unearned runs in the sixth inning.
Raymond committed four of its five errors and the A's got just one hit in the frame. Derek West doubled twice to account for half of Marshall's four hits.
Jordan Kontz struck out six and gave up eight hits -- to seven different Rockets -- without giving up a walk in a complete-game victory. Zach Nelson was the hard-luck loser after surrendering just four hits without issuing a walk in eight complete innings of work.
Raymond (14-8) got its lone run in the seventh when Mike Jeseritz, who singled twice, scored on a fielder's choice hit by Nelson.

The Willmar Legion I tuned up for its weekend games in the Starbuck tournament with a five-inning win over Dawson on Friday night.
Willmar's Cole Christenson and Brett Swanson both drove in three runs, and Swanson, Zach Horman and Austin Smith all picked up two hits.
Bryce Broman allowed three hits and struck out five to earn the victory.
