Ridgewater names new volleyball coach

With sports returning to Ridgewater College after the 2020-21 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the school announced Friday that Amanda Bohlsen will take over as the Warriors’ head volleyball coach.

According to the school’s press release, Bohlsen has spent the last 10 years coaching area Junior Olympic volleyball programs in Willmar, New London and Mankato.

“Being a coach gives me the opportunity to be a lasting role model for the players I’m lucky enough to have on my court,” Bohlsen said in the release. “As a coach, I have a unique position in the lives of all the players I encounter, as well as with the community, to shape it for the future.”

Bohlsen replaces Erica Smith, who led the team to a 14-9 record in 2019.

Ridgewater is slated to start the 2021 season at the Crossover Tournament on Aug. 27 at Anoka.
