Area Prep Roundup: Willmar's Bruhn remains in 8AA girls tennis tournament

Cardinals senior opens section singles play 2-0 on Friday

SARTELL — Willmar senior Allie Bruhn won two matches Friday in the South Sub-Section 8AA individual tournament at StaFit.

Bruhn opened with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Rocori’s Amber Field. She then beat Becker’s Lauren Croal 7-5, 6-1. Bruhn plays Becker’s Maddie Moe at 10 a.m. Saturday at StaFit in the semifinals. The championship and third-place matches are at noon.

All of Willmar’s other entrants lost their first matches: Adali Laidlaw in singles and Alise Staebell and Ashlie Staebell, and Kessa Mara and Caroline Becker in doubles.

Community Christian of Willmar powered past Faith Christian of Foreston in Willmar.

Will Chapin had two goals and an assist to lead CCS to the Christian Athletic League victory. Eduardo Montejano added two goals and Mark Arnold and Conner Levesque each added one goal apiece for the Eagles. Mark Arnold, Landon Holmgren and Max Arnold had assists for CCS.


Juan Ramirez recorded two saves in goal for the Eagles.
