Amateur Baseball: Rockets, Twins advance in Class C

NEW PRAGUE - Alex Lotthammer and Damon Rademacher made life miserable for every hitter that stepped into the batter's box on Sunday.

With Raymond and Princeton playing in the opening round of the Class C state amateur baseball tournament, the two were mired in a pitcher's duel, hoping to play another weekend.

Thanks to seven strong innings on the mound and some early run support from his teammates, Lotthammer led the Rockets to a 3-0 victory over the Panthers Sunday at Memorial Park Baseball Stadium.

Lotthammer finished his outing allowing just one hit and five walks with five strikeouts. Cole Christensen aided the effort, picking up the save after two innings of work, allowing two hits with one strikeout.

Rademacher threw a complete game, giving up three runs (two earned), six hits and one walk with six strikeouts in the loss.

Raymond jumped on the board in the second after an RBI double by John Sawatzky, driving in Zach Nelson. Then in the third, Tyler Steen crushed a double that brought home Mike Teseritz before scoring himself on a sacrifice fly from Cal Kosminskas.

The Rockets will return to action on Saturday, Aug. 25 back in New Prague against Region 15 champion Richmond. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
