BENSON - A three-run fifth inning lifted Benson to a comeback win over Montevideo on Monday.

The Braves plated three on run-scoring doubles from Jared Knutson and Will Enderson and a Thunder Hawks' error.

Matt Goossen got the win in relief of Knutson. Goossen allowed a hit in 2-1/3 scoreless innings.

Montevideo's Matthew Fragodt had two hits and Noah Buseman drove in a first-inning run with a sacrifice fly.

Benson plays at Minnewaska at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Already leading 3-1 after three innings, Minnewaska went off with 12 runs over the next three innings in a 15-1 six-inning blowout over New London-Spicer Monday at Green Lake Diamonds in Spicer.

Clay Blair finished 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs while Ryan Amundson also had two runs and two RBis on 1-for-4 hitting. Darion Alexander had a double and scored three times in the Lakers' victory. Jared Freese got the win after allowing just one run on one hit and a pair of walks in five innings.

Nick Perkins finished 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored for the Wildcats.

Morris/Chokio-Alberta edged Redwood Valley in a pitching duel Monday afternoon.

The Tigers gave up 10 hits but only allowed one run which came in the first inning after Cole Woodford doubled and came around to score.

Woodford finished with three hits on the day but Morris/Chokio-Alberta starter Austin Berlinger kept the damage to a minimum, striking out five batters in five innings. Zach Bruns, who went 1-for-2, came in to get the win with just one hit allowed and three strikeouts in the last two innings.

Michael Halvorson and Chandler Wilts scored both of the runs for the Tigers, scoring in the fourth and sixth inning, respectively.

Wyatt Halvorson and Caden Bjornjeld combined to quiet the Canby bats and propel Lac qui Parle Valley to a win.

Halvorson earned the win with six strong innings of work where he struck out eight batters, allowing two hits, two walks and one unearned run.

Dain Haas helped lead the offensive charge with a 2-for-3 day at the plate that included two runs scored and a run batted in. Eean Allpress also scored twice.

The Eagles will play again on Thursday in Madison against Central Minnesota Christian.

Renville County West's Jack Howard and Justin Schrupp combined on a five-inning no-hitter in the Jaguars' Camden Conference win over Dawson-Boyd on Monday.

RCW took advantage of 10 Dawson-Boyd walks and Howard had two hits and drove in five runs. Blake Engstrom and Brandan Hoberg both had hits and drove in two runs.

Howard and Schrupp combined for eight strikeouts.

RCW plays host to KMS at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart.

Emma Hanson had a three-run home run among her three hits and Brianna Deming, Sam Johnson and Ari Lindquist all drove in two runs in New London-Spicer's win over Minnewaska on Monday in Glenwood.

NLS' Ashlyn Leindecker got the win, allowing three unearned runs on three hits and striking out four.

The Wildcats play host to Glencoe-Silver Lake at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in New London.

Haley Wollschlager outdueled Dawson-Boyd's Mary Bothun in a 1-0 game that featured just four hits between the two teams.

Each pitcher struck out 13 batters and allowed just two hits but the Eagles strung their two hits together with Ashton Molden scoring on a Cassidie Olson RBI single.

Kaia Jordahl logged both of the hits for Dawson-Boyd.

Even after Hancock put up seven first-inning runs, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa managed to claw back and blow out the Owls with a 16-9 non-conference win on Monday.

Ally Gruber had a big day for the Jaguars, going 2-for-5 with three runs and an RBI from the top of the order. Kiara Quade came through later in the lineup, going 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs. Coming in to relief in the first inning, Cassandra Tensen struck out six over 6-1/3 innings to get the win.

Nadine Miller and Alexis Staples led the Hancock offense as both players went 2-for-4. Staples had a double with a run and an RBI while Miller hit a double and crossed home twice.
