SPICER — With strong efforts on the mound and an opportunistic offense, New London-Spicer was able to hold off Atwater for a 4-3 County Line League victory Sunday at Green Lake Diamonds.

The Twins struck first as their first four batters reached base, with Mike Danielson drawing a bases-loaded walk that brought in Josh Soine. While Dalton Rambow hit into a double play, Austen Hadley was able to plate a run for the 2-0 NLS lead.

Jordan Olson, the Chuckers’ starting pitcher, opened the top of the second with a leadoff triple to center field, eventually reaching home on a Jack Peterson sacrifice fly.

The Twins made it a two-run game again in the fourth. With two outs, Derek Dolezal hit a single, then reached second with a stolen base. An error from the catcher gave Dolezal the opening he needed to score and give NLS the 3-1 edge.

Peterson came up clutch again for Atwater in the sixth when he cracked a double to left-center that scored Tyler Stegeman and Josh Kingery, tying the game at 3-3.

While the Twins had three hits, the Chuckers committed five errors, with the most costly mistake coming in the eighth. NLS’ Brady Damhof reached home from second after an infield error for the winning run.

Patrick Courtney went six innings in the start, striking out 10 in a no-decision. Jett Salonek got the win after striking out two while allowing no runs with four hits and one walk in three innings.

Olson went 3-2/3 innings in the start. He also went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and a run for Atwater. David Kingery was 3-for-5 and Eli Albrecht had a pair of hits in the loss.

After coming up with a catch in left field, Atwater's Josh Kingery fires a throw to second for the 7-4 double play in the third inning of Sunday's game against New London-Spicer at Green Lake Diamonds in Spicer.
