Basketball: Orth Foundation sponsoring three Jam the Gym events

The Tim Orth Memorial Foundation is sponsoring three Jam the Gym events in the next three weeks, starting with area all-star basketball games and numerous activities and attractions on Friday and Saturday in Wabasso and Bird Island.

The Tim Orth Memorial Foundation is sponsoring three Jam the Gym events in the next three weeks, starting with area all-star basketball games and numerous activities and attractions on Friday and Saturday in Wabasso and Bird Island.

The annual Orth Jam the Gym events begin Friday at the Wabasso Activity Center. Another Jam the Gym is Saturday in Bird Island. An April 1 event also is planned in Glencoe.

At Bird Island, the doors open at 4 p.m. and at 5 p.m. at Wabasso. The area girls all-stars play at 6 p.m. with boys all-star games following.

-- Mascots from the Minnesota Timberwolves (Crunch), the Utah Jazz (Bear and Little Bear), the Chicago Bulls (Dunkin') and the University of Minnesota's Goldy Gopher.

-- The Utah Jazz Dunk Team

-- The Boston Celtics Dunk Team.

-- "Lucky" the dunker of the Boston Celtics

-- Acclaimed dunker Greg Mueller

-- The Fargo-Moorhead Acro Team.

-- The Alexandria Aces basketball skills team.

The Orth Foundation raises and distributes money for area families facing medical expense for their children. In 12 years, Orth donations are approaching $3 million, helping more than 300 families.
