WILLMAR - Hitting 50 percent of its shots, Willmar's offense was rolling on Monday while the defense locked up St. Cloud Tech in a 70-26 Central Lakes Conference victory at Willmar High School.

The Cardinals' defense held the Tigers to 20.5 percent, including 1 of 18 from 3-point range.

"We moved the ball really well tonight versus the zone. I thought the girls were locked in tonight on both ends," said Willmar head coach Dustin Carlson. "We have really woken up since losing to Apollo last Thursday."

Katelyn Murphy pushed the Cardinals with a team-high 17 points, going 3 of 5 from 3-point range. Carly Wedel came up with 11 points and Mackenzie Jones provided a big lift off the bench with eight points, eight rebounds and four steals.

Four Tech players had four points, which was a team high.

The Cardinals resume play Tuesday on the road against Brainerd.
