ST. CLOUD — On Feb. 4, the Willmar boys basketball team battled St. Cloud Apollo and suffered a crushing home defeat at the buzzer

In the rematch 10 days later, the Cardinals could not keep up with the Eagles.

Outscored 41-22 in the first half, Willmar fell to 6-17 this season following a 71-44 road loss on Friday.

The Cardinals struggled offensively, making only 20 of their 66 field-goal attempts (30.3 percent) and shooting 4-for-18 (22.2 percent) from 3-point territory. Meanwhile, Apollo was far more efficient, connecting on 54.6 percent from the floor.

Chang Hoth, the player who drilled the game-winner the last time these teams played, led the Eagles with a game-high 21 points and six rebounds.

Jack Jeffords and Chase Dirksen each had 10 points to pace the road team. Jeffords also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Willmar looks to rebound at home 6 p.m. Tuesday against Rocori.
