FERGUS FALLS — The Willmar boys basketball team saw a first-half lead wither away in a 51-43 loss to Fergus Falls on Friday night.

The Cardinals led 22-17 at halftime.

The game went back and forth in the second half. Fergus Falls grabbed the lead for good with 3 minutes, 50 seconds to go. Luke Newman’s three-pointer gave the Otters a 40-37 lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Newman finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Kaden Conklin had 12 points and Dominic Aguilar added 11 for Fergus Falls.

For Willmar, Alex Schramm and Blake Schoolmeester each had nine points to lead the scoring. Jacob Rosendahl had seven points and six rebounds.

Benson trailed by nine at halftime, but outscored Montevideo 30-17 in the second half to secure the West Central Conference win at Montevideo.

Led by Abe Peterson and Cole Hedman, the Braves hit 13 3-pointers on the night. Peterson had three 3-pointers on the way to a team-high 14 points while Hedman also had three triples in a 12-point, six-rebound, three-assist effort.

Andrew Vanbinsbergen was the lone Thunder Hawk in double figures with 11 points. Bradyn Schultz finished with nine points and six rebounds while Cole Augeson hit three 3-pointers for nine points.

In a duel between BOLD’s Jordan Sagedahl and Minnewaska’s Peyton Johnsrud, the Lakers came away with a win at Glenwood.

Sagedahl finished with a game-high 32 points on 10-for-18 shooting from the field. He drained seven of his 10 three-point attempts and added four steals.

Johnsrud converted on 9 of his 16 attempts from the floor to finish with 30 points. He was also a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Cole Visser was only other Warrior to score in double figures with 13 points.

Sam Hested put up 15 points for the Lakers. Aaron Ver Steeg added 11 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
