BBE plays No. 3 Medford at state

The Jaguars, who won the Section 5A title Saturday over Walker-Hackensakc-Akeley, met Medford in the state semifinals last year

LITTLE FALLS — After a thrilling Section 5A victory Saturday night, the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa volleyball team learned its state opponent Sunday.

BBE plays third-seeded Medford at 3 p.m. Thursday in the state Class A quarterfinals at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The Jaguars (23-8) went unseeded.

The top seed went to Minneota, followed by No. 2 Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, No. 3 Medford, No. 4 Mounds Park Academy and No. 5 Fosston. Greenway of Coleraine, Henning and BBE are the other three teams in the tournament, which continues with consolation and championship matches Friday. The Class A final is 1 p.m. Saturday.

The BBE/Medford winner plays the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown vs. Henning winner at 3 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.
