BROOTEN -- The importance of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa's 25-11, 25-16, 25-20 win over Maple Lake Thursday was twofold.
First, it gave coach Kevin Weller his 100th career volleyball coaching victory in only his fifth season at the helm.
Second, it lifted the Jaguars to first place alone in the Central Minnesota Conference race.
Maggie Gruber led the Jaguars (4-0, 12-2) with 13 kills and three ace blocks. Taylor Braegelman followed with seven kills. Julie Hieserich had 26 assists and Raeann Sorenson recorded 11 digs.
The teams entered the match tied for the conference lead, but the Jaguars dominated throughout to hand the Irish (3-1, 13-4) their first non-tournament loss of the season.
