Big innings help Larks thump Stingers

Bismarck piles up 19 hits in 14-4 win over Willmar

WILLMAR - A two-run second inning gave the Willmar Stingers hope against Bismarck, but the Larks piled up four runs in the fifth to take control in a 14-4 win on Friday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

The Stingers hit the road of game at Rochester on Saturday and Sunday before the Northwoods League’s three-day All-Star Game break on Monday through Wednesday.

The Stingers play a pair of home games against Rochester on July 18-19 following the break.

The Larks rapped 19 hits off five Stingers pitchers. Kevin Saenz had two hits and drove in two runs and Branden Boissiere had a pair of singles.

NL-Spicer’s Scott Rambow doubled and had three RBIs and John Perkins had three hits and scored twice.

Raymond jumped out quickly and a trio of pitchers held Starbuck at bay on Friday night in Glenwood.

The Rockets’ Tyler Steen homered and tripled and drove in two runs, Jose Rosario had a hit and three RBIs and Brett Swanson was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Calvin Kosminskas got the win in relief.

Starbuck’s Mike Andreas and Colin Richards both had two hits.
